Trick or treat!! It's Halloween here at Pokemon Vortex. We've got a nice surprise for you all in-game! Be patient though, it may take some time searching the maps to find it. Here's a tip: it's on every map, and you will need all the gyms and elite four defeated to see it. It comes in Normal, Ancient, Dark, Mystic and Shiny forms, and will only be on the maps for a week. After that, it can never be caught again, and must be traded for.
EDIT: The Halloween event is now over, and the event Pokemon have been removed from the maps. We hope you had fun hunting them down.
October 2nd, 2010:
Okay, I know it has been forever since we had our last update. But now, the staff figured they'd get everyone updated on our progress. We are happy to announce we now have fifth gen pokemon added to the game, and all the bugs around them are pretty well worked out. We're also proud to say vortex is the first game to incorporate the fifth generation. We are also looking forward to a new type being added to the game, likely to be released with V2. For those who are merely browsing this page or actually playing the game, don't forget to check out our thriving community! More updates about V2 will be coming soon, we hope.
May 17th, 2010:
We realize it has been a long time since our last update post, so I'd like to let you know exactly where we stand. Version 2 of Pokémon Vortex will be released hopefully within a month to two months. This is subject to change as we see fit, so don't expect an official release date. We hope to enhance the interface, upgrade the trading system, incorporate live battling, and much more. Those who have played for a while have probably noted our server progression, however, for those who do not know, we have upgraded our server once again and our website should be rather quick for all users even if we have over 1,000 members online at a time. We have confidence that we can make the user experience better, so do not lose confidence in us. Also, don't forget to give the forums a visit. ;)
January 2nd, 2010:
The game has been backed up to how it was on December 14. This is based on a pure accident, we apologize for everything. I highly suggest viewing this incident in more detail here.
November 15th, 2009:
We have just established a new policy regarding scamming and external hacking of accounts. Please go to this link to learn more. Recently there was glitch that may have caused you to lose pokémon. Please report this to us preferably on our forums and include the pokemon that was lost and your account. Because of server errors some pokemon have experienced errors turning them into a '0'. I will be changing them into rare pokemon coming up as my condolence. We also have a new battle system up, although it is not yet ready on wild battles. Have a weekly lottery system set up for V2. We will also try to get a better server soon, so we can get rid of the server errors that are the main cause of our problems.
October 15th, 2009:
As you might can tell by the improved speed of the site, we are on our new server, which so far seems to have great potential. We will now focus on Version 2 and patching the game of it's glitches. We have no release date of Version 2, however every few days I will update a pdf file here on the updates with the version notes, and what exactly we are working on. As far as glitches and errors go, we handle all of those over the forums or contact forms.
October 10th, 2009:
While we are waiting on a new server, we have placed the game on the old, slower server. The game is subject to being taken down at any time for construction, so keep that in mind. We hope to have it up on a new server soon.
May 23rd, 2009:
The majority of the game has been finished. We are still waiting on getting our server. Once we have obtained it the game will be released to the public.
April 2nd, 2009:
The games features are growing every day. These include the trade system being done, gyms, battle system etc. There will be a few new features as well, that not even the beta testers will get a chance to see. Most of the game has been finished but we here are Vortex want everything to be in working order when the game is released, so you get the best experience from playing.
November 5th, 2008:
As of right now, both our forums and our chatbox are up and running. Click on the links to the right to go to either and enjoy while we work on the game. I've started on the battle system; it's only the beginning stages and I still have a lot of work ahead of me though.
October 17th, 2008:
Some aspects of the game are going to take longer than I anticipated so my estimate on a release date would be somewhere around late December or early January. 95% of the layouts are finished and many features are already in progress or are being developed. I'm still waiting on Metallic and Ghostly sprites, but the Normal, Dark, and Shiny sprites are all uploaded.
